“It’s A Dog’s Life” Canine Art Guild 17th Online Show – Inspired Pet Portraits & Animal Paintings by Dana Feagin

I made the deadline this go around, for the next online  Canine Art Guild Show – “It’s A Dog’s Life”. Take a peek at the wonderful dog art – and vote for the people’s choice award! Included in the mix are my paintings of Bob (Big ‘ol Boy)  – It Wasn’t Me – pictured below, Fleur de Lab (which is looking oddly dark online, even though he is a black lab), and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel – Roxy Heart. “The Horses of Equamore” Opening Reception – Inspired Pet Portraits and Animal Paintings by Dana Feagin

Thanks to everyone who celebrated National Horse Protection Day with me and staff from Equamore Horse Sanctuary at the opening reception for “The Horses of Equamore” at the Ashland Art Center. In the end, I completed seven paintings of Equamore horses, of which three were being touched up on Friday morning, but they were all framed and ready to show by Friday night. We had a great crowd, which included three Equamore Board members, and one volunteer, who were on hand to talk about the work Equamore does every day to help horses in need here in Jackson County. I met so many wonderful horse lovers, and had a great discussion with another artist about creating a large horse mural in honor of the wild horses being rounded up by the BLM – so, who knows where that may lead. The show remains up through the end of March, and 10% of sales will be donated to Equamore Foundation to assist with horse care and rescue. Two of the paintings have sold, but are available for viewing for the duration of the show.  Available Equamore horse paintings and prices are now included  in the “Paintings – other animals” section of my website. https://danafeagin.com/galleries/other-animal-paintings/  Below are a few photos of the evening.

My paintings of Equamore Horses were featured in the Ashland Daily Tidings this morning. Thanks to Vickie Aldous for this great article! I am putting the final touches on the last two paintings today and then framing begins. I should be ready to hang tomorrow morning, just in time for the opening from 5-8PM during Ashland’s First Friday Art Walk at the Ashland Art Center. http://www.dailytidings.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=%2F20130228%2FNEWS02%2F302280304#. What??? Travels to Wings, Tails and Scales in Ohio – Inspired Pet Portraits and Animal Paintings by Dana Feagin

My funny oil painting of a surprised-looking goldfish is making it’s way to the Greater Columbus Convention Center. It is part of the Wings, Tales and Scales art show and sale at the Midwest Veterinary Conference. The show runs Thursday, February 21st to Saturday, February 23rd from 7AM to 6PM,  and a portion of the art sales benefit the Ohio Animal Health Foundation, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association. In addition, my usual 10% donation to Sanctuary One will be made even if this one sells at the show. Here is a link to the event: http://www.mvcinfo.org/events/artshow.html

Horse Paintings

Equamore Paintings in Progress – Inspired Pet Portraits & Animal Paintings in Oil by Dana Feagin

Here is a sneak peek at the beginnings of my Equamore horse series… I am heading back to Equamore on Sunday with a friend who has a much fancier camera to capture some of the details I couldn’t see in my own photos….clearly I need a camera upgrade if I plan to be taking photos in dark barns! I should have 6 Equamore horse paintings done in time for March First Friday, when these paintings will be shown in the Studio Artist Gallery upstairs at the Ashland Art Center.  March 1st is National Horse Protection Day, so it seemed fitting to celebrate that and all the great work Equamore does to provide a home for abandoned and starving horses. They also operate a hay bank to provide food for horses when owners can no longer afford to feed them. If you haven’t heard about Equamore, check out their website www.equamore.org and like their new Facebook page www.facebook.com/HorseSanctuary. They are just a few miles down Highway 66 in Ashland & they need our support!Horse Paintings

My Newest Sanctuary One Painting “Cream”

My newest painting “Cream”; she is a former blood donor cow from a veterinary school. She retired at Sanctuary One with her friend Cookies, and is also available for adoption. With her white coat, I just had to paint her with a fun & colorful  polka dot background – I think it suits her!
