Impressions of Porters – Medford, OR November & December 2010
Stop by Porters restaurant during November and December and vote for your favorite “Impressions of Porter’s” artwork. Fifty artists created unique works of art on 12 x 12 inch panels, which are also for sale during this event. This competition is part of Porters’ 100 year celebration of the historic train depot. Below is a snapshot of my entry – unfortunately, with a bit of glare – “Looking for Porters”.
Lisa, Sanctuary One Pig
This is a painting of Lisa, a Santuary One resident. She was rescued after being beaten by her previous owner and now lives a happy life at Santuary One! I couldn’t resist giving Lisa a bit of a glamour makeover while I was working on this, so she is pinked up and a bit less hairy! The painting was inspired by a photograph of her “talking”, taken by a Sanctuary One photographer. I think she looks like she is laughing, “hamming it up”! This is the first of several Sanctuary One animal paintings in process. Ten percent of sales for these paintings and prints will be donated to Sanctuary One.
Featured Artist at Starbucks in Medford!
Some of my newer animal paintings & prints are on display the month of August at Starbucks on the south end of Medford (across the street from the Harry and David Country Store). A new painting of a shelter bunny and a Pit Bull puppy (Beauford) are included as part of the show! All work on display is for sale – information is available at the front counter.
"Who Does She Think She Is?" Women’s Art Show July 30 – August 31, RCC/SOU Higher Education Center, Medford, Oregon
One of my paintings (Riley) is part of this wonderful art show which includes work from 50 local women artists. Stop by and take a look if you get a chance (101 South Bartlett Ave, Medford, OR). Also, the documentary film “Who Does She Think She Is?” will be showing again on Friday, September 24 at 6:30, although the art show will no longer be on display. It’s an interesting and inspiring film and well worth seeing. Thanks to Besty Lewis and Cynthia Gott for coordinating this event!
"Art For Pitties" – Even Chance Charity Auction Starts August 22nd on Ebay Charities Website
Just finished my painted tote bag for the “Art for Pitties” fundraiser which begins August 15th via the internet. Fifty+ artists have donated one of a kind tote bags and other items to be auctioned off to support Even Chance, a Pit Bull resource, rescue and advocacy group based in San Diego. I am a Pit Bull owner and have also been a Pit Bull foster parent. They are amazing dogs – smart, loving and total “people pleasers”. I’ve painted my Pit Bull Riley several times, so for this tote bag I painted Roscoe, our first foster dog! Please support this fundraiser – they are also auctioning off art which is not on a tote bag. Betty White even donated something – no kidding! www.artforpitties.blogspot.com
