Dots & Daisy!

This painting was finished on First Friday at the Ashland Art Center this month. The painting of the dog was done well before, but the polka dots giving perspective to the piece took a lot longer than I anticipated. The dog was painted from a cute hound dog photo I found on a copyright-free website, and as I was painstakingly painting the polka dots a friend said the dog looked like hers – Daisy – so, I named it Dots and Daisy! A photographer from the Chamber of Commerce photographed me painting that night and said it might show up on their website – I’ll have to take a look……

“Pearl on Lavender” wins Gamblin Award of Excellence at “Unconditional Love” Fine Art Pet Portrait Show in Texas

My painting of Pearl, a Sanctuary One rescue cat, won the Gamblin Award this weekend at the Irving Art Association’s “Unconditional Love” National Fine Art Pet Portrait Show!

Three of my paintings were accepted into this wonderful show featuring pet portraits in a variety of art mediums. I will be attending the artist reception on the 11th.

Tucker – My Shih Tzu

This is a fun painting of one of my own dogs, Tucker. He always perches himself up high on the sofa so he can see out the front window. I think he looks like a king, so I painted the sofa red.

The Elusive Horse Painting – Chance – Sanctuary One Horse

Finally, a photo of the Sanctuary One horse painting of Chance. This painting was inspired by a photograph taken by a sanctuary photographer and I love the perspective! More of his body is visible in the photo, but I just had to crop in close and focus on his sweet and funny face – just look at those nostrils!

What???

A Just For Fun Painting….

After finishing up a few dog commissions, I wanted to paint something silly – and a friend at the art  center had just finished a pastel painting of a goldfish, which looked like fun..so she loaned me her reference photo. I changed up his colors a bit, but his google-eyes made me laugh. What???

Featured Animal Artist on Horse and Man Blog (www.horseandman.com)

A great surprise for a Sunday morning – I was featured in a blog post by Dawn Diovera of Horse and Man. She and her family visited my studio at the Ashland Art Center while they were in Southern Oregon on vacation – and they also visited Sanctuary One! Here is the direct link to that blog http://horseandman.com/?p=18292Dana Feagin, pet portrait, artist, ashland, pacific northwest, cow painting, dog painting, oil

Casey and Rosie at the Oregon Coast

This is my most recent commission & memorial painting celebrating Casey and Rosie – mother and daughter Westies. It is my first painting featuring two dogs and unlike most of my other commissions, it also has a bit of a landscape in it. I like how Rosie’s muzzle hair is blowing up from the wind, and Casey’s tongue hanging out is pretty cute.

Boo!

BooBoo is my second Labradoodle portrait this summer. I love all of her hair! Boo is from Philadelphia and I donated this commission to the annual Peter’s Place fundraiser. Peter’s Place provides support to children/families who lose a parent.

My Newly Redesigned Website is Almost Complete!

Just a few minor tweaks to my website and it will be finished! Finally, my gallery is up-to-date – well, except for a few very recently completed paintings. I’m just trying to decide which images to use for the Cat and Other Animal Galleries on the home page (I am currently thinking Ellie’s Cat and Peeking Pekin – as the primary background colors there now are distracting me). Also new – my posts to the News section now feed to my artist Facebook page!
